Mom’s Porridge
Mom taught me how to make amazing porridge today using ingredients I had laying around in my kitchen! I had to think of something to make for lunch quickly. It was about 25 degrees and the fire hadn’t been lit yet so something warm was definitely the answer. I found this great looking Old County Style Museli in my cabinet and the rest is history !
Ingredients:
1 & 1/2 cups of Museli
Roughly 3/4 cup 2% Milk
Roughly 1/4 cup Water (can be substituted for more Milk)
1 Tablespoon brown sugar
Roughly 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
Medium-sized Sauce pan
medium-sized mixing bowl
1 Banana
Maple syrup
Prepare:
Mix together your Museli, brown sugar, milk, cinnamon and water into you saucepan;
Mix in roughly (1) tablespoon of maple syrup;
Put the sauce pan on the stove at medium heat for about 5 minutes or until lightly boiling (bubbling) while stirring often;
At a boil, stir constantly for about a minute;
Remove from heat & cover with a lid for about 5 minutes;
Cut your banana in half and small dice both halves separately;
After 5 minutes, your porridge should look thick and sticky;
Add half of your diced banana to the sauce pan & stir;
Serve your porridge in a bowl and top with several banana pieces and a drizzle of maple syrup;
Enjoy!!!
